Access to the internet can help improve people’s lives, opening doors to education and employment, providing access to cheaper goods and services and allowing them to stay in touch with friends and family. But many people have neither the opportunity nor the necessary skills to use the technology.
Even though over 99.8% of the UK population now has broadband availability, figures from the Office for National Statistics reveal that 24% of adults in the UK are still digitally excluded.
As part of BT’s commitment to invest in the community, we are working together with government, industry, charity and community groups to help bridge this ‘digital divide’. BT Internet Rangers is one of the ways we’re aiming to raise awareness of the issue and help make the internet accessible for all.
