The winning school or group of schools will receive £4,000.
The aim of this award is to encourage schools or a group of schools to organise events where young people, up to the age of 16, use their ICT skills to help other people learn about computers and how to surf the internet. This type of event is a very rewarding for everyone involved:
For students, being the teacher can be bring new insights and help build confidence.
For learners, an introduction to the internet can open up exciting possibilities; such as new ways to keep in touch with friends and family as well as access to cheaper online products and services.
For schools, this type of event is a great example of efforts to build community cohesion.
To enter the award, schools have until Monday 1st November 2010 to plan their event or events and submit their application. The event must take place before the end of the 2010/11 school year. Winners will be notified of their award by Monday 22nd November 2010. Up to two schools or groups of schools will receive runners up prizes of £2,500.
